Whole Life Coverage in Lincoln
Whole life stays in force for as long as you pay, with a premium that never changes and cash value that builds within the policy. A single agent explains each choice, manages the application and remains your contact once the policy is delivered.
How whole life works and who it suits
Whole life is coverage that does not expire. As long as premiums are paid, your beneficiary gets the death benefit whether you pass at 60 or 95. Your premium is fixed the day the policy is issued and does not climb as you age.
A share of each payment adds to cash value at a rate written into the contract. Down the road you can borrow from it, apply it toward premiums, or cash in the policy for that value if your plans shift. Certain policies pay dividends as well, though they are not guaranteed.
For the same death benefit, whole life costs more than term, so it does not suit everyone. It usually fits people who want coverage that never runs out, a fixed sum for final costs or an inheritance, or a steady, conservative savings layer next to their retirement income planning. If term life or universal life would work better, we will tell you directly.

- Yearly check-ins
- After the policy takes effect, we go over it with you whenever life shifts, like a marriage, a new baby or selling a business.
Signs whole life may be right for you
Your term policy is ending
If your term life coverage expires soon and you still want protection, converting or replacing it with whole life keeps a death benefit in place for good.
You want a set legacy
Leaving a specific amount to children, grandchildren or a charity is easier when the coverage cannot run out.
You've maxed out other savings
Some clients who already fund retirement accounts like the steady, tax-deferred cash value growth as a conservative extra layer.
You want final costs handled
A modest whole life policy can cover funeral costs and outstanding bills so your family is not left sorting out money in a hard week. For smaller amounts, final expense insurance may also be worth comparing.
Someone depends on you long term
A child or adult relative with special needs may rely on support well past any term length. Permanent coverage can be part of that plan.
What sets your whole life premium
Whole life keeps the premium you begin with, so early decisions stay with you for years. Before you apply, we explain how each factor here affects your quote. The insurer settles the final amount after underwriting.
Your age at issue
The earlier the policy is issued, the lower your level premium. Putting it off a few years can push it up noticeably.
Health and nicotine
Your medical past, current conditions, height and weight, and any nicotine use shape your rating class. Smokers usually pay far more than non-smokers.
Size of the death benefit
A bigger face amount raises the premium. We help you settle on a figure that meets your goals and still fits your budget.
How long you pay
Some whole life policies are paid until age 100, and others are fully paid in 10 or 20 years. A shorter schedule means bigger payments over fewer years.
Riders and type of policy
Extras such as a premium waiver or long-term care rider increase the cost. Participating policies that may pay dividends can carry different pricing too.

Questions about whole life
Why does whole life cost so much more than term?
Term covers a fixed number of years, and most term policies end without a claim. Whole life lasts your lifetime and builds cash value, so the insurer charges more from the start. Many families do well with some of each, and we can show you that side by side.
Can I access money from the policy during my life?
Yes. You can take a loan against the cash value or surrender the policy for it. Unpaid loans lower the death benefit, and surrendering ends the coverage, so we go over the trade-offs with you first.
Will I have to take a medical exam?
Frequently, but not in every case. Lots of insurers offer simplified-issue whole life for smaller amounts with just health questions. Fully underwritten policies that include an exam tend to price better if your health is good.
Are dividends promised?
No. Certain insurers have paid them for many years, but they are never guaranteed. We list the guaranteed values in the illustration on their own so you see exactly what the contract commits to.
Can my beneficiary be changed down the road?
Usually, yes. As long as you did not name an irrevocable beneficiary, you can change it whenever you like. Give us a call and we will help with the insurer's forms.
Do you help people who live outside Lincoln?
We do. Our clients come from across Placer County and nearby, including Rocklin, Roseville, Loomis and Auburn. Since most of the work is done by phone, distance seldom matters.
